Meet owner, Jackie and family!
These local Upper Dublin grads have settled in Jenkintown and are building Capricorn Books together around their interests in literature, art and music. Jackie was a food photographer and recipe developer; she’s the maker and curator of the shop. Chris is a musician, illustrator and the shop bookkeeper. Both share a love for sci-fi and fantasy - they first bonded over the love of the Harry Potter series in 2002. They love good food, spending time outdoors, playing tabletop games and of course, reading.
Together with their son Ridley, and two (stay at home) bookshop cats, Hilda and Zelda, they are looking forward to growing this store with the local community!
"Are you a Capricorn?"
No, Jackie is not a Capricorn! The name has more mythological origins than astrological. Jackie was a dedicated Latin student throughout school and always held a love of mythology and classical history. She wanted to name the store after a mythological beast to signify unconventionality and give the store an atmosphere of the strange and whimsical.
