The Capricorn Chronicle
Calling our Creatives in Our Community!
This winter we are launching our first edition of The Capricorn Chronicle; a community created literary zine. We are looking for personal writings, poems, art, and more, from anyone and everyone, to publish in our new zine. Submissions will be open until the beginning of December, and the zine will be published in January 2027. This is a physical, quarterly zine that will be available in our bookstore for free. In putting together this literary zine, we are looking to connect with our community that has always embraced our bookstore and our almost-too-big ideas wholeheartedly, and to foster a space for sharing writing and art in a physical form, hopefully for years to come.
Our winter theme is... New Beginnings! Anyone can submit on the theme.
HOW TO SUBMIT

Subject line: "Capricorn Chronicle Submission"
Attachments cannot exceed 25MB
Submissions should speak to the theme of "New Beginnings," but is open to your personal interpretation
Please note any art will be in black and white for this edition
Written submissions are capped at 2000 words

Anyone of any age! We want this publication to reflect our vibrant community.
What are you looking for?
Short stories, poems, art, photography, essays, comics, book or art reviews, nonfiction pieces, short form journalism, personal reflections or memories about Jenkintown or the surrounding areas, interviews with artists or activists, any other form of creative writing or visual medium you'd like. We want to see whatever it is that makes you feel... you!
How can I submit? Email CapricornBookshop@gmail.com with the subject line "Capricorn Chronicle Submission". Attachments should not exceed 25MB
When is the submission deadline? End of the day 12/10/26
When will this be distributed? Our fourth birthday! 1/16/27
Can I send in multiple submissions? Yes, within reason. You can email a submission anytime within the open submissions window
Will my submission be automatically published if I submit? We cannot guarantee all submissions will be published, but we will strive to include as many as possible!
Will submissions be edited? We want to represent your work exactly as you intended, so we ask that you perform any grammatical/spell checks prior to submission.
How do I know if my submission is selected? We will reach out in late Dec/early Jan to notify everyone selected.
Will I be reimbursed?
This is non-profit zine, so we will not be paying for submissions.
Can I use AI to create a submission? No. We will not accept any work created with generative AI at any stage of the creative process.
